Teresa Deion Harris has been in prison in Tennessee for 17 years, serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole for a murder that was committed by Walter Smothers. Deion did not commit the murder nor did she act as a willing accomplice.
Deion was convicted under the Felony Murder Rule, a 16th Century law which has been, in most states, deemed unconstitutional. Her attorney called no defense witnesses! Her state appointed post conviction attorney, was a Divorce Attorney, not qualified to defend a Felony Murder conviction therefore either completely ignorant or corrupt......
Deion left behind two very small children, aged 3 and 4 at the time.
