The Teresa Deion Harris I know.
I've long since been a true crime buff, if you will, and have knowledge of hundreds and hundreds of cases across the United States. I've always come to pretty much the same conclusion in all of them... their guilty and where they belong. That is... until I became familiar with the case of Teresa Deion Harris. After the episode of Prison Wives originally aired on the ID Channel, I began writing to Deion. Something about this case did not sit right with me. After much researching and after months and months of corresponding several times a week with Deion as well as with Tim McDonald, her husband, I know for a fact this case stinks. From the very beginning at the time of Deion's trial to her Post Conviction to her Appeals and right up to the present.
I began my letter writing innocently enough, only to let this innocent woman know that there are people out here in this world that do care about her. There were no other intentions in the beginning and beyond that initial letter. Little did I know then what lie ahead. After months of forming such a close friendship and bond I realized I could not sit idly by and do nothing. This is the reason for this website as well as all of the other things we are doing for Deion.
Teresa Deion Harris is not the woman she was in 1993. She is a good hearted Christian woman who absolutely loves life and her family and friends. She has come a long way since the days of being not only raped and abused but terrorized by many in her life who claimed to have loved and/or cared about her. She has forgiven those as well as herself. She still carries the scars of that horrible night so long ago but she also realizes there was nothing she could have done.
After all the letter writing back and forth, I was finally given the opportunity to actually meet with Deion face to face. What an honor and privilege this was for me!! Deion was so much more than I had ever anticipated! It's been a very, very long time since I last met anyone like this woman. She is the most un-selfish person I've had the fortune of meeting in a long time. Her family, friends and her faith mean everything to her. She is always concerned about others as well as wanting to help everybody else. Always putting herself at the very end of the list. Deion is not only a beautiful woman on the outside but a beautiful woman on the inside, she has a heart of pure solid gold.
Many people say, "sure, she can tell you whatever she wants to". My reply to those individuals is simple. There is no way a person can fool people repeatedly when they have built up such a strong and close friendship as Deion and I have. There would be cracks somewhere. There are absolutely zero cracks. There is no facade in Deion. This woman is as good as they get and I only wish that I had the love, the caring, the courage and strength and the heart that Deion has. Anyone who hasn't had the extreme pleasure of knowing the Deion that I know is loosing out. Deion has brightened the lives of not only her family and many friends and supporters but myself and my family as well. Like her husband Tim, I too have a mission, to not only defend Deion but to see that she will one day receive the freedom she so deserves.
I am proud, honored and privileged to call Teresa Deion Harris one of my very best friends and is without a shadow of a doubt, a true, lifelong friend!
